Air Sensation Festival

Sky Party

The balloons stay on the ground and glow to the rhythm of the music, like enormous lanterns. Nobody flies — everybody watches.

Balloons glowing to music

At Sky Party the balloons do not fly. They stay tethered to the ground, inflated, while the burners fire in time with the music — all at once or one by one, like enormous lanterns breathing.

It happens in the evening, once the flights are over, when the light has faded enough for the flame to show through the envelope. It lasts as long as the music programme.

It opens on Facebook, in a new tab. We do not embed it, so that tracking scripts are not loaded for every visitor.

What it is like

  • Free to attend

No booking and no flight ticket needed. Sky Party is the part of the festival for the audience that comes simply to watch.

  • Up close

The balloons are out on the field, a few metres away. You hear the burner, feel the heat, and watch the crews at work.

  • Weather dependent

Even tethered, an inflated balloon needs calm air. If the wind picks up, the show is shortened or postponed — as with everything else, safety comes first.
