What a free balloon flight is

A hot air balloon has no direction of its own: it moves with the air mass, and the pilot controls only altitude. The route and the landing site cannot be determined in advance and cannot be guaranteed.

The flight lasts 45–60 minutes, at approximately 1000 metres. The whole procedure — choosing the field, inflation, flight, landing and recovery — takes about 3 hours.

Flights are operated in the Ocna Sibiului and Porumbacu de Jos area, and the launch field is chosen on the day of the flight, according to the wind direction.

Weather conditions

The flight is operated only in weather conditions that allow safe operation. The decision rests solely with the pilot in command and is final.

Confirmation is given 2–3 days before the agreed date, based on the weather forecast. Until then, the date is provisional.

If the flight cannot be operated for weather reasons, it is rescheduled by mutual agreement to a later date. Rescheduling for weather reasons does not constitute non-performance.

Passenger conditions

• People under the influence of alcohol or hallucinogenic substances are not accepted on board.
• People with chronic conditions that could be aggravated by flight are not accepted on board. Passengers must inform us in advance of any relevant condition.
• Minors may fly only accompanied by a parent or legal guardian, who assumes responsibility.
• Passengers must follow the instructions of the pilot and the ground crew throughout the procedure, including take-off and landing.
• Landing takes place on farmland; closed shoes and suitable clothing are required.

Passenger weight

The aircraft has an authorised minimum and maximum weight for safe operation. For this reason, the total weight of the passengers is requested at booking, as it is needed for the load calculation.

Booking, payment and cancellation

This website does not process online payments. The payment method, the deadline and the cancellation conditions are agreed when the booking is confirmed, directly with the operator, and are communicated in writing.

Gift vouchers issued by SC Air Sensation are valid for 6 months from the date of issue, unless the voucher states otherwise.

Photographs and recordings

Photographs and video recordings may be made during the procedure. If you would rather not appear in published material, tell us before take-off and we will respect that.
